Recalling B'lore's past to create Bengaluru's future - IITACB 3rd Saturday series event - Feb 21

(An IIT Alumni Centre Exclusive Event)

This month we take up the issue of urban amnesia specific to our city, Bengaluru. We have a speaker known for his work and talks on the subject, Naresh V Narasimhan.

Date: February 21, 2015 (Saturday)
Venue: Koramangala Club, Koramangala, Bengaluru
Schedule: 630 PM onwards

Bengaluru is witnessing the metamorphosis of the fabled Garden City into a garbage city. Unlike old European cities which continue to retain their character over centuries, uncontrolled construction is converting Bengaluru into a concrete jungle. Which old-time resident of Bengaluru would not relate to the topic? And which newcomer has not heard about its glorious past dotted with lakes and parks? But why is the city losing its charm and what can we do to help recover it? Why are we forgetting our city's wonderful past?

It is time for us to take stock of what is happening, how does it impact our well being, how will it effect our future generations and try and arrive at concrete action points. This month we take up the issue of urban amnesia specific to our city, Bengaluru. We have a speaker known for his work and fascinating talks on the subject: Naresh V Narasimhan, Principal Architect, Venkataramanan Associates and Founder-Director MOD Institute.

Naresh heads Venkataramanan Associates, one of Bengaluru's leading firm of architects with projects that include many iconic corporate, residential and institutional buildings and campuses. He is an expert in urban design and planning with a unique perspective from his vast experience in working with Indian cities and building projects. Naresh will share his thoughts and insights with specific reference to Bengaluru in an interesting talk on 21 Feb 2015 at the Third Saturday Monthly Meeting (TSMM) of IIT Alumni Centre Bengaluru.

Venue: Koramangala Club
Time: 630 PM

As usual, the event is free for IITACB full members. Non-members pay Rs 300 on the spot. We will have free snacks and dinner. Items from bar can be purchased.

We look forward to an interesting evening of networking, talk and Q&A with Naresh and IITians.
