Innovating to Create Social Change

(An IIT Alumni Centre Exclusive Event)

Ananthapadmanabhan (IITM) is a trail-blazer and has defined a mission and agenda very different from a lot of us. This is a great opportunity to speak to a fellow-IITian about topics and issues that concern us and which we may want to contribute to.

Date: May 16, 2015 (Saturday)
Venue: Koramangala Club, Koramangala, Bengaluru
Schedule: 630pm Tea & Networking, 7pm Talk & Discussion, 830pm Dinner

Greenpeace and Amnesty International have used innovative ways to take their message across to citizens around the world, creating powerful movements for social change in policy and people's attitudes. Ananth (IITM) has led these movements/organizations in India and internationally with remarkable effect. In his new role as the CEO of The Azim Premji Philantropic Initiatives (APPI), Ananth will now be heading The Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative, which focuses at how funding and support to social change agents can be coupled with innovative approaches to address problems that we face as a society.

In a frank and interactive discussion, Ananth will share his journey as a social activist and a catalyst for change and development - putting people at the centre. He will also illustrate how innovative ways of communication, awareness and activism can help bring the spotlight on critical social issues and cause changes in attitudes and policies for the better. Ananth will also discuss, in the capacity of his new role, how he will be working towards making an impact, working with social change agents through APPI that spreads out a larger canvas for development issues. As you know, APPI is founded by Mr. Azim Premji through generous personal contributions from him.

Ananth is a trail-blazer and has defined a mission and agenda very different from a lot of us. This is a great opportunity to speak to a fellow-IITian about topics and issues that concern us and which we may want to contribute to. He will be joined by some colleagues from Amnesty International India, and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Free for Centre, Event & Affiliate Members, Rs 300/person for others, payable at venue.
