In the last 2 decades most countries have become obsessed with offering services and making money from those services. However, China and other emerging economies have proven that to remain economically vibrant, one has to manufacture “things”. Some of the top global companies still make “things” (Apple, Exxon, GE, Reliance,…).

3D Printing is an emerging technology that can change the way we make “things” !

Internet changed the face of publishing, broadcasting, music/entertainment, and communication. Internet put these industry in the hands of common man. 3D Printing is likely to do the same to the business of making “things”.

Our invited speaker, Dr. Mukesh Agarwala is Managing Director of 3D Product Development, a private Indian firm he founded in 2000. For the past 24 years, Dr. Agarwala has focused his education, research, and practice on design, prototyping and materials processing. Over this time, he has authored more than 50 articles, and technical papers and has been awarded 5 patents on Materials and 3D Printing. Prior to starting 3DPD in Bangalore, India, Dr. Agarwala completed his Bachelors Degree in 1988 in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT, Madras. In 1994 he earned his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, specialising in 3D Printing Processes and Materials.
From 1990 to 2000 he worked on various 3DP Processes. During this period he developed several advanced materials for these processes and fine-tuned 3DP Processes for metals, ceramics, and composites.
In 2000, Dr. Agarwala returned to India and decided to don the hat of an entrepreneur and started 3D Product Development providing RP/3DP Technology Services. In last few years, he has been actively engaged with Confederation of India Industries (CII), ASME, IMTMA, etc. in organising and conducting Seminars on RP/3DP. He is also a member of the Team led by PMO to develop a National Roadmap on Additive Manufacturing.

Do join us with your family and bring your friends along. As usual, the event is free for IITACB members and there is a Rs. 300 charge for non-members.

Warm regards,
