Thanks to your strong support, the IIT Alumni Club Bangalore programs are now on a roll. Kanwal Rekhi's excellent session on 3rd December was followed by another brilliant one on 29th Jan with Desh Deshpande & Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi (Director, IIT Madras). The overflowing auditorium and endless flow of questions was testimony to the high-quality of this program.
The IIT Alumni Club Bangalore, is now proud to present the 4th Program of our Talk Series again, with luminary speakers, and a topic that is close to the heart of everyone who commutes in Bangalore! We will have Mr. N. Sivasailam (Managing Director, BMRCL popularly known as Namma Metro), in a session chaired by Prof. Dhingra, Institute Chair Professor & Emeritus Fellow, Transportation Systems Engg, IIT Bombay.
The event will be held at the conveniently located at Bangalore International Centre, Domlur, on Saturday, February, 25th, 2012 at 11 am(agenda and more details below).
Topic: Transit Oriented Development for Bangalore
Let he who hath not faced commuting issues in Bangalore, cast the ...Is there anyone untouched by the daily hassle of commuting in Bangalore? Is there any hope to the problems that we face? Is the Namma Metro the solution to all our issues? What about High-Speed Rail Links? Bus Transit Corridors? Or is it cycles? Or chopping trees & demolishing homes to broaden roads?
Every concerned citizen of Bangalore (and which IITian is not a concerned citizen?) grapples with these questions and frustrations day in and day out. We thought it would be great to hear directly from those who are working hard to provide solutions. Given our supposed technology backgrounds (we've all passed out of the IITs), we thought it would be useful to hear of the technology frameworks that enable different solutions, and then listen to what specifically is happening in Bangalore.
IIT Bombay has done a lot of pioneering work in Transportation, and hence who better to Chair this session than Prof Dhingra of IIT Bombay. The Bangalore Metro, our city's biggest transportation related investment to date, has recently gone live, and holds a lot of promise to change our lives. Who better than the MD of Bangalore Metro to talk about what the future holds?
A defining feature of all our sessions is their highly interactive nature - this one promises to be no different, and will feature significant audience participation.
